Empower sample set stops with “Preparing for Injection” status in the Run Samples window when using Agilent ICF SL 3.5.1 and Empower 3.6.1 with Agilent LC - WKB253757

SYMPTOMS

• When using an Agilent LC chromatographic system on Empower 3.6.1 with ICF SL 3.5.1, the sample set stops in " Preparing for Injection" status and the sample set does not continue.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3.6.1
• Agilent ICF Support Layer 3.5.1

CAUSE

• In Empower 3.6.1 at ICF Support Layer , when the run state is 'Idle' then ICF SL forces Empower to change Instrument status to ‘Idle’ without checking the current state of Empower Instrument status( which is busy).

• This results in Empower picking up the next injection and starting with pre-injection activities without waiting for ICF SL to complete the current run.

• Since Empower has already started with the next run without waiting for ICF SL to trigger the start for the run, data collection will not start at ICF Support Layer, as a result, the injection will stall and the sample set stops in " Preparing for Injection" status.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. This behaviour was corrected in ICF Support Layer 3.6.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This issue is reported in CRI-5455.

This same behaviour is corrected in ICF Support Layer 3.6, as a part of a fix done to CRI-4439. So, same root cause will be applicable to CRI-5455 also.
