How to capture Vial Missing errors in the Empower Message Center for Agilent GC with Headspace using Agilent ICF - WKB247045

Article number: 247045

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

  • Capture Vial Missing errors in the Empower Message Center for Agilent GC with Headspace using Agilent ICF.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3
  • Agilent Instrument Control Framework
  • Agilent 7890 GC
  • Agilent 7697A Headspace
  • Agilent 6890 GC
  • Agilent 8697 Headspace
  • Agilent 8890 GC

PROCEDURE

For Agilent GC with ALS:

  1. Open the Instrument Method of Agilent GC.
  2. Select the Tray/Other option from the ALS tab.
  3. From the ALS Errors drop-down, select either “Stop the Sequence” or “Stop to the Next Sample” based on your requirement.
  4. Then we get “There was no bottle in the Gripper” error in the Empower Message Center, which represents the Vial Missing.
  5. If we select the “Pause for User Interaction” option, we get no error related to Vial Missing in the Empower Message Center.

For Agilent GC with Headspace there are the following options from the Headspace Sampler Instrument Method:

  1. Skip: If you select the Skip option, you will get a “Vial Not found” error in the Empower Message Center.
  2. Abort: If you select the Stop option, you will get a “Sequence stopped because of error” in the Empower Message Center, but there is no error related to Vial Missing.
  3. Pause: If you select the Pause option, you will get no error in the Message Center, but the Headspace front panel will show "Vial Missing".

This is how all ICF versions before ICF Support v3.6 behave for Agilent GC with Headspace on Vial Missing error.
