"Communication Failure" with 2998 in Empower - WKB230216

SYMPTOMS

• 2998 communication failure in Run Samples
• Resetting 2998 does not fix the issue
• Restarting Empower and computer does not fix the issue
• Node properties shows OK? = No for 2998; for other Ethernet instruments connected in the node OK? = YES

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower Enterprise
• Citrix
• Ethernet instruments
• 2998 Photodiode Array Detector

CAUSE

Empower does not properly recognize the 2998.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Take the chromatography system offline.
2. Switch off all instruments connected to the acquisition PC or LAC/E.
3. Restart the acquisition PC or LAC/E.
4. After the LAC/E initializes, switch on the Ethernet instruments.
5. Verify in node properties that OK? = Yes.
