In Empower 3 FR2, Save Report to PDF File generates an empty PDF file - WKB22613

SYMPTOMS

• When saving a report from Empower 3 Preview as a PDF file, a file is generated that is empty (0 Kb size)

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 FR3 or earlier versions that use the  Amyuni "Waters PDF Generator"

CAUSE

A security software program, Forcepoint DLP Endpoint (also known as Triton Endpoint), appears to interfere with saving the PDF file.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Disable or uninstall Forcepoint DLP Endpoint from the computer.
2. Run \Empower\Bin\ConfigPdfDriver.bat as administrator.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Saving reports as PDF files from Preview had previously worked.
• Saving reports from Preview as a .txt file worked during the time that saving as PDF file failed.
• The WatersPDFGenerator printer properties show that "Everyone" had the "Print" permission.
• The issue did not appear to be resolved immediately after the steps taken for this resolution, but then saving PDF reports started to work.
• It is not clear why there was a delay in successfully generating the PDF files after running ConfigPdfDriver.bat.
