SYMPTOMS

• "System Idle - Instrument Failure" error message for Agilent 8890 GC with liquid injection appears after runtime plus 10 minutes
• The sample set has Equilibrate function, followed by Inject Standards/Samples

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework (ICF SL v3.5)
• Agilent 8890 with ALS

CAUSE

The column manufacture field is empty on the Columns tab.

FIX or WORKAROUND

From the drop-down list, select the column manufacture as Agilent or J&W, and save the instrument method.
