Has Waters tested Empower against the PrintNightmare patch released by Microsoft? - WKB204145

Article number: 204145

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower

ANSWER

No. Waters has not formally tested the patch released by Microsoft to address the PrintNightmare vulnerability.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Customers are advised to test the patch in a non-production Empower environment if possible.

The most recent guidance is to disable the Print Spooler where possible.

There is no harm in disabling the Print Spooler on LAC/E nodes as long as you are not taking advantage of Run and Process (with a report method defined) or Run and Report.

There is no harm in disabling the Print Spooler on the Database and/or Raw Data server unless you need to print from there for some reason.

Disabling the Print Spooler service on Citrix servers will negatively impact all print-related functions in Empower.
