With Agilent 7890B GC and HS7697A, Empower error message "Unable to perform the operation because the system is in monitor mode" - WKB192063

SYMPTOMS

Three error messages appear in order as follows:

• "Unable to perform the operation because the system is in monitor mode"
• "Failed to get ready to run an acquisition"
• Instrument failure

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework v3.3 and above

CAUSE

Using Agilent ICF Support Layer v3.3 and above, an Agilent 7890 GC configured with headspace may lead to an "Unable to perform the operation because the system is in monitor mode" error at the start of the sample set for User B if User A previously had a failed injection.
 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Workaround: Restart the LAC/E and GC to clear the failure status associated with User A.

As per CRI-4969, This issue was resolved in ICF SL v3.7
