Waters DHCP Configuration screen is missing Type and Name - WKB16322

SYMPTOMS

• Unable to connect to instruments
• Ipconfig/all shows the Instrument LAN IPv4 address correctly
• Pinging the Instrument LAN adapter returns the correct IPv4 address with no IPv6 addresses in the list
• IP address and MAC address are listed for all instruments
• Only Name and Type are blank

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Base and higher
• AVAST Business Antivirus package installed
• Other antivirus packages may also have this feature (360 Total Security)

CAUSE

The antivirus package contains a firewall that is blocking the return of Name and Type.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Open the AVAST software from the task bar on the PC that has the instruments.
2. Select Firewall.
3. The Instrument LAN will show as an unidentified network with public access.
4. Change the access from Public to Private by sliding the bar to Private.
5. Name and Type should now appear.
