SYMPTOMS

• Cannot log into Empower due to ORA-12514 Oracle error

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower

CAUSE

Failed Raw Data hard drive. When Oracle starts up, it looks for previously configured folders for mirror and archivedb folders on this drive. If they are missing, then the error is displayed and you can't log into Empower

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Check Windows Event Viewer system log for disk errors:
2. Replace failed hard drive
3. Restore folders and contents to it
4. Restart the server or database
