Can I use methanol as a precipitation solvent for the Sirocco Protein Precipitation plate? - WKB267034

Article number: 267034

ENVIRONMENT

  • Sirocco
  • 96-well plate format
  • Plasma protein precipitation
  • Solvent
  • Methanol

ANSWER

Methanol is not the recommended crash solvent to use with the Sirocco Protein Precipitation plate.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Methanol produces a stringy, viscous plasma precipitation that more easily clogs the Sirocco plate wells.

Acetonitrile produces a precipitation that is more likely to pellet and be less viscous.
