Can I use the AccQ•Tag Ultra Derivatization Reagent to analyze free amino acids in the presence of intact proteins? - WKB123834

Article number: 123834

ENVIRONMENT

  • AccQ•Tag Ultra
  • Amino acid analysis (AAA)
  • Intact protein
  • Free amino acids
  • Derivatization

ANSWER

No

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

AccQ•Tag Ultra Derivatization Reagent will derivatize any primary and secondary amines present in a sample. If proteins are present along with the amino acids of interest, the proteins will consume the majority of the reagent, which will result in incomplete or non-reproducible derivatization of the free amino acids of interest.

Proteins should be removed from the sample matrix prior to derivatizing the free amino acids of interest.
