Should I use a broad or narrow calibration standard to cross-check my GPC calibration curve? - WKB266543

Article number: 266543

ENVIRONMENT

  • GPC
  • Calibration curve
  • Narrow standard
  • Broad standard

ANSWER

In general, a broad calibration standard is recommended with known Mw and Mn.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If a secondary detection method is not available for the GPC analysis and the results of the normally generated calibration curve provide data of low confidence, the broad calibration standard can be run as an unknown and compared with the calibration curve established by the narrow standards.

Two well-characterized broad calibration standards of different molecular weight will generate six data points.
