Can ACQUITY columns be attached using nanoViper and Viper fittings? - WKB843

Article number: 843

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY columns
  • Column hardware
  • Column fittings
  • Viper
  • nanoViper

ANSWER

Yes, but read additional information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Waters representatives have successfully connected Waters UPLC columns using Viper and nanoViper hardware.

HOWEVER, Waters Engineering tested the hardware seals and a 90-degree turn past finger-tight is needed to create a high-pressure seal to Waters hardware. Thermo directions call for a 45-degree turn with 90-degree maximum.

Be aware that if the fitting is over-torqued, this can cause the Viper ferrule to deform, and it may not be able to be used more than once.

For a better solution, see What are the part numbers for the fittings that connect an ACQUITY UPLC column or a 2.5um eXtended Performance (XP) Column to a non-Waters UPLC system?
