ANSWER

To clean polar compounds from the column, run a 10-minute gradient from 0% to 100% water.

Note that back pressure will increase as the water concentration increases.

Increasing temperature can help clean the column.

The BEH Amide's temperature limit is 90 °C, and the pH range is 2-11.

NOTE: Carbohydrates, simple sugars, and polysaccharides are not soluble in >80% organic. When cleaning a column exposed to these types of samples or matrices with sugars and high salts, the cleaning medium should not exceed 80% organic—to avoid precipitation of these types of compounds. Tips for carbohydrates are included in the following:
