How often should I change a VanGuard cartridge holder (186007949)? - WKB70134

Article number: 70134

ENVIRONMENT

  • Guard cartridges
  • VanGuard column protection
  • VanGuard cartridge holder
  • VanGuard cartridges

ANSWER

A new VanGuard cartridge holder should be installed with each new or different column.

Replace the VanGuard cartridge holder after 10 VanGuard cartridge installations (into the same holder).

For best, leak-free performance, do not uninstall and reinstall the same VanGuard Cartridge Holder more than 3 times.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Because the VanGuard cartridge holder is designed to have a perfect fit (at a microscopic level) into each specific column upon first installation, it is possible that use of the same holder on a different column might result in peak shape issues (if a microscopic void should form inside the end fitting between the VanGuard cartridge holder and the column) or leaking issues. If these issues occur, replace the VanGuard cartridge holder.

Repeated uninstallation and reinstallation of the VanGuard Cartidge Holder can cause the threads on the compression screw to be come worn or fatigued.  When this happens, leaks occur.  Therefore, Waters recommends not to uninstall the VanGuard Cartidge Holder after installation unless it is necessary to do so.  If it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall the same VanGuard Cartidge Holder, Waters recommends to do this no more than 3 times since this can cause worn thread and/or fatigue on the compression screw and cause leaks.
