Is there a modern aqueous GPC column other than Ultrahydrogel that might be used to perform molecular weight determination of iron sucrose (USP monograph)? - WKB230497

Article number: 230497

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY
  • Advanced polymer chromatography (APC)
  • Size exclusion chromatography (SEC)
  • Aqueous GPC
  • Gel permeation chromatography
  • Bridged ethylene hybrid (BEH)

ANSWER

If you are following a USP monograph, verify if there are allowable changes for the method.

If you are not required to follow the specific USP method, ACQUITY APC AQ columns might be considered for evaluation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Waters has not evaluated ACQUITY APC AQ columns for the purposes of performing size exclusion chromatography of iron sucrose.

ACQUITY APC AQ columns are packed with unbonded BEH particles. These particles exhibit residual silanol groups that are progressively more negatively charged as mobile pH increases above 2.0 and are fully negatively charged in pH above ~5.0.

Ultrahydrogel columns are packed with Crosslinked Hydroxylated Polymethacrylate Gel, which includes some residual carboxyl functionality. These carboxyl groups are negatively charged as pH is increased as well.
