OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Start up a new Atlantis dC18 column from its storage solution; introduce mobile phase to the column without damaging the column or precipitating any buffer in the mobile phase.

PROCEDURE

1. The column is shipped in 100% acetonitrile. Attach the column to the HPLC system with the outlet line flushing to a waste container.
2. Flush the column for 10 column volumes with 50/50 acetonitrile or methanol/water.
3. Connect the column to the detector.
4. Flush the column with the mobile phase for 20 column volumes.
