Is it OK to inject samples that contain 6M guanidine HCl onto an ACQUITY BEH C4, 300A column or an XBridge BEH C4, 300A column? - WKB200768

Article number: 200768

ENVIRONMENT

  • Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC)
  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
  • Bridged ethylene hybrid (BEH)
  • ACQUITY BEH C4 300A
  • XBridge BEH C4 300A

ANSWER

Yes

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

BEH C4 300A packing is stable if injected samples contain 6M guanidine HCl.

Note that 6M guanidine HCl is often used to clean this packing of residual proteinaceous materials. As a result, if samples contain 6M guanidine HCl, the analyte peaks may not be sharp because the presence of the guanidine HCl in the samples may partially elute the analytes as soon as they enter the column inlet. This may cause peak shape problems.
