Why does my BEH C18 column last longer than my silica C18 column at pH 7? - WKB198980
ENVIRONMENT
- Column longevity
- BEH C18
- silica C18
- Reverse phase
ANSWER
Neutral pH conditions break the silica bonds that hold the particle together, and temperature accelerates the dissolution of the silica particle.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The BEH C18 is a high-strength HYBRID particle designed to withstand very high pressure, pH, and temperature range. The hybrid particle lasts longer than silica because there are fewer unprotected silica bonds to break and more protective ethylene bridges throughout the lattice structure of the particle.
