BEH300 C4 columns are compatible with 100% aqueous mobile phase, but there is a chance that dewetting will occur. It is recommended that you run in at least 5% organic solvent at all times if possible, to prevent the pores from dewetting (expelling this high aqueous solution). If dewetting occurs, you will see a decrease in retention times. To re-wet the packing, simply flush the column with organic solvent to re-wet the packed bed. If the aqueous mobile phase has a buffer, it is recommended that you first flush with 100% water with no buffer before flushing with organic, in order to avoid problems with salt precipitation.
