Can I use an Atlantis HILIC Silica column for a normal-phase separation after using it for a HILIC separation? - WKB190626
Article number: 190626
ENVIRONMENT
- High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC)
- Polar compound retention
- United States Pharmacopeia (USP) L3 packing
- Solvent switching
ANSWER
Yes, but this is not recommended.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Atlantis HILIC silica packing is stable in 100% hexane. However, exposure to water, when running HILIC, will leave residual water adsorbed to the packing. As a result, use of this column for normal-phase separation, after water exposure, may alter the selectivity or retention behavior of the packing.
