Can I use deionized water as the mobile phase on Ultrahydrogel columns? - WKB118128

Article number: 118128

ENVIRONMENT

  • Ultrahydrogel
  • Gel permeation chromatography (GPC)
  • Size exclusion chromatography (SEC)
  • Gel filtration chromatography (GFC)

ANSWER

No

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Deionized water is not recommended because it contains trace amounts of organic compounds that will contaminate the column.

Use MilliQ water instead, or other water that is not deionized water, such as HPLC-grade bottled water.

NOTE:

To avoid analyte adsorption to Ultrahydrogel packings, it is also advised to use an additive or buffer.

See the Waters Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) Capabilities Brochure for a table of recommended mobile phases for Ultrahydrogel columns.
