NOTE:

For the following reasons, Waters does not recommend use of nanoscale LC for lipidomics applications:

  1. Mass load onto an iKey separation device may be as much as 200 times lower than on an analytical-scale column such as a 2.1-mm ID column.
  2. An iKey separation device may increase sensitivity up to 20 times vs. a 2.1-mm ID analytical column, but this may not overcome the drastic reduction in mass load. 

The dimensions of the iKey separation device used in the application note above were 150 µm ID x 100 mm length.
