Can I run the SARS-CoV-2 LC-MS Kit (RUO) on a non-Waters LC-MS system? - WKB225463

Article number: 225463

ENVIRONMENT

  • SARS-CoV-2 LC-MS Kit
  • Non-Waters LC-MS systems

ANSWER

Yes, but suitability highly depends on the quality of the LC system (low dispersion) and the level of analytical sensitivity of the mass spectrometer used.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Waters did not test this kit on systems other than a Waters ACQUITY UPLC I-Class, I-Class Binary Solvent Manager (BSM), Sample Manager with Flow Through Needle (SM-FTN), and Xevo TQ-XS.

This kit is intended for a high-end LC-MS system, because of the required analytical sensitivity.

The Waters application requires an extremely low LLoQ (lower limit of quantitation).  A high-end LC-MS system is required in order to achieve the wide range cited in Waters literature (3–50,000 amol/µL).

Waters sells 186010232 - Waters SARS-CoV-2 LC-MS System Suitability (RUO), which is a way for the customer to determine if their system has the capability of detecting the low level peptides and optimizing the protocols and settings for instrument platforms other than those specified in the Waters SARS-CoV-2 LC-MS Kit (RUO) Instructions for Use. If suitable, the full kit may then be considered.
